Well, the air is hot and humid, and the draft and free agency are over here in the GMCFL. Lets take a inside look at one of the most dysfunctional franchises in the history of Football.
The Trades-
MLB anyone? Ghee and 2nd rd. (used to select Dion Cooper) for Poz-Mlb 84 at the time...now an 87. Top 15 mlb. Looks like a decent trade for both Franchises.
The Panthers pick trades. Swap 16th pick for 29th and 30th picks w/ Carolina. Carolina uses 16th pick on stud mlb Ben Jackson. Cincy steals Tre Williams (87 re), and picks up their qb of the future Chris Robinson at 30 (78ovr). Another decent trade for both Franchises.
Ships youth To the N.O. Dunlap 22 (80 re) and Michael Johnson 24 (77 lolb) to the Saints for Marques Colston (90 wr) and next years 2nd. Another solid deal by both teams.
The Picks
RE- Williams-87 A- Speed rusher off the edge. A franchise player.
QB- Robinson-78 A- One year to hold clipboards and learn the offense.
CB -Barrister- 68 d potential burner. Good for special teams, and little else.
FB- Demathay- 69 b potential pancaker. Will be the starter in a year or two.
WR- Kuidis- 61 d potential. A shifty receiver, w a little size and speed, but not much room for growth.
The others- Free agent fodder
The Free Agents
TE- Bennet- 76 Ovr. Overpaid -yep. Big mouth-Definately. Good Blocker-check.
SS - Barrett- 68 Ovr. A blitzer and special teams ace, expect him to be in Cincy a while.
FB- Hall- 76 Ovr. A solid stop-gap player at FB.
CB- Wheatley-68 Ovr. Another DB who fits right into the scheme. Cheap too.
The Analysis
Although Cincy has not done enough to overtake the Ravens or Steelers yet, we feel like we are getting closer. We have discussed everything on a two-year basis, as that's how we are looking at moves. Hopefully 7-9 can become 9-7, with the next few years looking even brighter in The Queen City. Time will tell.
